Recently I test drove the new 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T and SRT-8. First off i need to say these are not the Mussel Cars of are fathers they are fully blown GT cars. I haft to start off with handling cause in all honesty thats where their fathers were lacking in, it is accurate and responsive but not harsh or firm like a sports car but not wollowy either just how a proper GT car should be. In the corners it feels controllable and gives a good indication of its limits and this is exactly the same for both the R/T and the SRT-8. Moving on... The Performance varied quite a bit from the R/T to the SRT-8, the R/T really felt like a good old Hemi and immediately brought me into the feel of the movie Vanishing Point with miles of torque, 40FTlb of it, coming from the 5.7L Hemi thrusting me right back into the 60's and 70's upon feeling this torque I proceeded to explore the 374HP and wound the car all the way up to 6000rpms and it had its grunt all the way to red line and made me feel like a little kid again. And then I tested the SRT-8 and oh boy was I surprised, I thought i had some fun in the R/T but this was a different car much different the power from under the hood was immense with 425HP and 420FTlp and with a sound that could sink San Fransisco into the sea. On to breaking... This is where the second biggest difference came in with the SRT-8 having the Brembo Big Break Kit on it making car car stop much much faster than the R/T while being heavier than the R/T, but don,t get me wrong the R/T breaked grea
t but the SRT-8 was just a lot better... either car can be hooked up to a 5 speed automatic or a 6 speed manual, the manual being much more fun and having the feel of a bolt action rifle! OK lets move on from the awesome to the average... The interior was very average but just as good as anything German in the same cost point but very roomy and comfortable... After all this I say the Dodge Challenger is a wonderful and just as good as anything European but with the cool fact of a American Mussel Car! I want one! So i give it a 7.8 out of 10 it was not a full 8 cause my best friend said it was ghetto, which i totally disagree with.
